Irkutsk State University welcomed the delegation from Hokkaido University, with the international workshop organized under the East Russia–Japan Expert Education Program (RJE3).
The group of master-degree students specializing in biotechnologies, ecology, sociology and archaeology took part in the workshop. The workshop included lectures and discussions in such spheres as environmental studies, archaeology. The students visited ISU Botanical garden, research center “Baikal region” and Scientific library
– Cooperation between our Universities is moving forward, and now we are discussing new forms of partnership, for instance, the tutoring system for master-degree students. Next year we plan to organize thematic summer schools, with ISU students and lecturers being invited to join, - prof. Kato noted.
In August five ISU students are going to the University of Hokkaido to take part in summer schools projects.
East Russia–Japan Expert Education Program RJE3 is conducted under “Strengthening the Universities' International Potential” Project supported by the Ministry of education, science, culture and sport of Japan. Irkutsk Sate University has taken part in this program along with Far Eastern Federal University (Vladivostok), North-Eastern Federal University (Yakutsk), Sakhalin State University (Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk) and Pacific State University (Khabarovsk) since October 2014. The program is targeted at creating the system of international cooperation to train specialists capable of being leaders in such spheres as education, culture, ecology and sustainable development of Far East regions.
